Measuring the width (a)
If you already have a track or pole in place and you intend to keep it or replace it with something similar then measure this. If there's nothing there at the moment you can measure the window's width, then add 40cm. A track or pole would normally extend 20cm either side of your window.
Measuring the height (drop)
A curtain track or pole would normally be fitted approximately 15cm above the window, so remember to add this to your measurements.
If you want shorter curtains (b) they would normally finish about 15cm below the sill. So you drop would be (15cm + b + 15cm)
If you want your curtains to the floor (c) your required drop would be (15cm + c)
Measuring for Blinds
You need to decide if your blind will be fitted on the inside or ourside of the window recess. If fitting inside the recess then please call us to discuss the additional considerations for fittings and mechanical operations.
We generally supply blinds made to fit on the outside of a window recess. You decide how much you would like your blind to over-hang but we would recommends a mnimum of 5-10cm at the sides and top and bottom.
